The PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Nawanshahr (Langroya, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar), under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-1, Ludhiana, organized a one-day training programme on 16th September 2025 at PMKSK – Balachaur (R.S.D Trading Co.) in collaboration with National Fertilizers Limited (NFL).
A total of 54 farmers participated in the programme, which focused on imparting practical knowledge and scientific practices to enhance farm productivity.
During the training, Dr. Pardeep Kumar, Deputy Director (Training), KVK Nawanshahr, delivered an informative lecture on the theme “Balanced Fertilization for Rabi Crops for Higher Productivity.” He highlighted the importance of adopting the right proportion and combination of nutrients to improve soil health, reduce input costs, and achieve sustainable yields.
Dr. Kumar emphasized the judicious use of fertilizers, including the role of macro and micro nutrients, and stressed the significance of soil testing before sowing to ensure the right dose of fertilizers. He also guided farmers on integrated nutrient management practices and the adverse effects of excessive use of chemical fertilizers on soil fertility and the environment.
The farmers actively interacted during the session, raising queries related to crop-specific nutrient management, new technologies, and government schemes on fertilizers. Officials from National Fertilizers Limited (NFL) also shared insights on the availability of quality fertilizers and encouraged farmers to adopt improved practices for better profitability.
The programme concluded with an assurance from KVK Nawanshahr to continue extending technical support and guidance to farmers through regular training programmes, demonstrations, and awareness campaigns. |
