Students of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), under their RAWE (Rural Agricultural Work Experience) programme, organized a training camp on “Women Empowerment” in village Dhatt, district Ludhiana. The primary focus of the camp was to provide skill-based training to women in order to improve their socio-economic status and self-reliance. Around 50 rural women actively participated in the programme.
Dr Lakhwinder, Extension Scientist and Incharge of the group, highlighted the importance of self-help groups and encouraged the women to form self-help groups for women empowerment.
Dr. Kulvir Kaur, Assistant Professor, Skill Development Centre, engaged with the women and conducted a live demonstration on preparing amla chutney as a food processing activity. She also informed them about various trainings offered by the Skill Development Centre of PAU.
Dr Vipan Rampal, Head, Department of Extension Education, appreciated the students for their dedicated efforts and said that such programmes not only benefited farm women at the grassroots level but also provided valuable field experience for the students.
Dr CS Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture, commended the final year B.Sc. (Agriculture) Hons. students for organizing the training programs so effectively and impressively. |
