Dr Shushant Tuteja, PhD scholar in the Department of Entomology, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has brought laurels to the University by bagging two prestigious awards at the National Conference on Advances in Sustainable Plant Protection under Changing Agricultural Scenario. He was conferred with the “Outstanding PhD Thesis Award” as well as the “2nd Best Poster Presentation Award” in recognition of his academic excellence and outstanding research contributions in the field of entomology.
The three-day national event was organized by the Entomological Research Association, Department of Entomology, Rajasthan College of Agriculture, Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur (Rajasthan), from September 18-20, 2025. The conference provided a platform for leading scientists, scholars, and policymakers from across the country to deliberate on innovations and sustainable approaches in plant protection.
Dr Tuteja carried out his doctoral research under the guidance of Dr PS Shera, Principal Entomologist. His PhD work focused on documenting the diversity of natural enemies associated with the invasive pest Spodoptera frugiperda (fall armyworm) in Punjab, detailed studies on the biology and parasitism potential of the egg parasitoid Telenomus remus and the larval parasitoid Bracon hebetor, and evaluation of bio-intensive modules for eco-friendly management of this pest. His significant achievements not only highlight his scientific dedication but also serve as an inspiration for young researchers, reaffirming PAU’s commitment to nurturing future leaders in agricultural sciences.
