The NSS unit of the College of Basic Sciences and Humanities organized a rally on the theme “Healthy Food, Healthy Life” during the Kisan Mela held at PAU. The activity was conducted to sensitize farmers and public about the importance of adopting nutritious and balanced diet for a healthy lifestyle. More than 80 NSS volunteers enthusiastically participated in the rally, carrying placards with impactful messages and raising slogans to draw attention to the importance of dietary choices. The students promoted the consumption of fresh fruits, vegetables, pulses, and whole grains as part of a daily diet while discouraging the excessive intake of junk food and sugar-laden beverages. They also highlighted the significance of food safety, hygiene, and healthy lifestyle choices in preventing lifestyle-related diseases and improving overall well-being. The programme was jointly coordinated and supervised by Dr. Lavjit Kaur, Assistant Professor of Sociology, and Dr. Anna Goyal, Mycologist (Mushroom), Programme Officers of COBS&H, under the guidance of Dr. Harmeet Singh Saralch, Programme Coordinator of PAU. They appreciated the active participation of the volunteers and emphasized that spreading awareness on public health issues is one of the vital responsibilities of NSS. The rally concluded with a strong message on the importance of nutritious food and healthy living, assuring the NSS unit’s commitment to spreading awareness on public health issues and nurturing responsibility, discipline, and social well-being of the society. |
