Farm Advisory Service Centre, Hoshiarpur (Gangian), under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana organized two awareness camps cum demonstrations on Management of citrus foot rot and fruit drop on 19th September 2025 in villages Jhambowal and Dhoot Kalan. The objective of the camp was to acquaint the fruit growers with the latest scientific technologies regarding management of fruit drop and foot rot in citrus.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sharma, Senior Extension Scientist (Entomology) discussed the integrated pest management of fruitfly and fruit-piercing moths which is an emerging threat to the citrus growers of the Kandi area. He advised the farmers to follow the management practices recommended by PAU, Ludhiana for foot rot and fruit drop in citrus
Dr Indira Devi District Extension Scientist (Fruits) FASC, Gangian guided the farmers regarding nutrient management and fruit drop in citrus and spray schedule to be followed by the citrus growers during the season.
Dr Charanjeet Kaur, Principal Extension Scientist (Agronomy), FASC, Gangian discussed the successful raising of Rabi crops and advisories for crop management after heavy rain. She highlighted the various activities conducted by FASC for the benefit of farmers. In the end fungicide (blitox) was provided to farmers as demonstrations to control fruit drop. |
