TRAINING PROGRAMME ON NATURAL FARMING FOR FARMERS UNDER THE NATIONAL MISSION ON NATURAL FARMING AT KVK ROPAR

Punjab Agricultural University–Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ropar, under the guidance of the Director of Extension Education, PAU Ludhiana, organized a one-day training programme on Natural Farming for farmers on 29.09.2025. The programme was conducted as part of the National Mission on Natural Farming with support from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ropar. A total of 50 farmers from various blocks of Rupnagar district, successfully participated in the training.

Dr. Satbir Singh, Associate Director (Training), KVK Ropar, welcomed the participants and said that Natural farming is important in Punjab for reducing farmers' costs and debt, improving family and environmental health by eliminating chemical residues, and enhancing soil fertility and biodiversity to build a sustainable agricultural system. It offers an alternative to chemical-intensive practices that have historically degraded Punjab's soil and increased farmer distress, providing a path toward greater economic and ecological well-being for the state's farmers and consumers. The role of natural farming in ensuring agricultural sustainability and improving soil health. The technical sessions were coordinated by Dr. Urvi Sharma, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), and Dr. Sanjeev Ahuja, Associate Professor (Vegetable Science). Discussions covered the scope, need, principles, and techniques of natural farming. Hands-on training was also organized on the preparation of key bio-inputs such as Beezamrit, Jeevamrit, Ghanjeevamrit, Neemastra, and Bhramastra, in which the farmers took active part.

Dr. Parminder Cheema from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Ropar, addressed the participants on implementing demonstrations and developing natural farming clusters. The successful execution of the programme was made possible through the joint efforts of the Department of Agriculture, Rupnagar, and KVK Ropar.
