The College of Agriculture, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), celebrated its 71st Foundation Day with enthusiasm and reverence, bringing together eminent dignitaries, faculty, students and alumni to reflect on its glorious journey and achievements.
Dr SS Johl, former Vice-Chancellor of PAU and Chancellor, Central University, Punjab graced the occasion as the chief guest. Dr KS Aulakh, former Vice-Chancellor, PAU was the special guest, while Dr DS Cheema, former Dean, College of Agriculture, PAU, was the guest of honour. The function was presided over by Dr Satbir Singh Gosal, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, and hosted by Dr CS Aulakh, Dean, College of Agriculture. The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a visit to the exhibition by the dignitaries.
In his address, Dr Johl recalled his student days marked by simplicity and hard work and shared his memories of the institution’s journey over the decades.
Dr Aulakh stressed the importance of maintaining a balance between academics, sports, and extracurricular activities, urging students to live happily while preparing for their careers.
Dr Cheema highlighted the historical role of the college in agricultural progress, particularly in Punjab’s Green Revolution.
Dr Gosal highlighted the achievements of PAU in recent years and shared his vision of building a progressive, future-ready institution aspiring to make PAU the number one agricultural university of the country.
Earlier, Dean Dr Aulakh extended a warm welcome to the distinguished guests and narrated the recent growth trajectory of the College of Agriculture.
On this occasion, faculty members, students and non-teaching staff were honoured with awards in recognition of their outstanding contributions during the past year. The event witnessed the presence of a large gathering including present and former Deans and Directors, faculty and students, making the Foundation Day a memorable celebration of the rich legacy and forward-looking vision of the College of Agriculture, PAU.
