The Soil and Water Engineering Club of the Department of Soil and Water Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), organized a tree plantation drive at the Departmental Research Farm, located near gate no. 6 of PAU, Ludhiana. The plantation drive was held under the Clean and Green Campus initiative by the PAU Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal and the slogan “Ek Ped Ma ke Naam (Plant One Tree on the Name of Mother),” given by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

The occasion was graced by the presence of Dr MS Bhullar, Director of Extension Education; Dr Manjeet Singh, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology; and Dr Rakesh Sharda, Project Coordinator, AICRP-PEASEM ICAR-CIPHET. In addition to departmental faculty, former professors including Dr MP Kaushal, Dr AK Jain, Dr Anil Bhardwaj, and Dr Mukesh Siag, also participated in the environmentally friendly activity.

Dr Bhullar appreciated the efforts of the department in organizing the important event and stated that it is important to properly nurture the planted trees.

Dr Manjeet Singh also impressed upon the cleaning and greening of the research farm and suggested making of the Soil and Water Engineering Green Park.
