PAU-KrishiVigyan Kendra, Bahowal (Hoshiarpur) organized a one day training programme on Natural Farming on 19-9-2025 at its campus under the National Mission on Natural Farming in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Hoshiarpur. Farmers from the Mahilpur and Garhshankar blocks of the district participated in this training.

Dr. Maninder Singh Bons, Associate Director (Training), PAU-KVK Hoshiarpur, highlighted various farmer welfare activities being undertaken by KVK. He emphasized the need for adopting natural farming to reduce the cost of cultivation, improve soil fertility and ensure human and environmental health. He motivated farmers to integrate natural farming practices for sustainable agriculture.

Dr.Prabhjot Kaur, Assistant Professor (Plant Protection), delivered a detailed lecture on bio-inputs used in natural farming such as Beejamrit, Jeevamrit, Ghanjeevamrit, Brahmastra and Agniastra. She explained their role in reducing dependence on chemical pesticides and fertilizers. She also spoke about mulching (acchadhan) and waapsa (soil moisture conservation) techniques for enhancing soil productivity.

Dr.Karmvir Singh Garcha, Assistant Professor (Vegetable Science), discussed the principles of natural farming and their application in fruit and vegetable cultivation. He elaborated on preparation and use of bio-formulations for maintaining soil and crop health.

As part of the programme, practical demonstrations on the preparation of Beejamrit and Jeevamrit were also provided, in which farmers actively participated and learned about their preparation methods, application, and benefits.

The training concluded with an interactive session where farmers’ queries about the practical aspects of adopting natural farming were addressed, and they were encouraged to initiate natural farming practices in a phased manner.
